About Fair Play

Fairmount Park Conservancy brings parks to life. We work with the City of Philadelphia and its communities to steward our parks while nurturing our shared environment, cultural resources, and public health. We do this by:

  • Creating healthy infrastructure: transforming and caring for parks to maximize their benefits for people and the environment, and

  • Offering enriching programs: empowering communities by connecting them to each other and to the land.

We envision a vibrant, high-quality, and equitable Philadelphia park system for everyone.

The Conservancy’s work creates welcoming urban spaces, positively impacts Philadelphia’s economic development, and advances social justice for many of Philadelphia’s most vulnerable communities. Parks and public spaces have never been more important than they are now, offering space for community, joy, and exploration and providing respite in turbulent times.

Fairmount Park Conservancy has embarked on the Fair Play Campaign to strengthen Philadelphia’s greatest asset: our city’s parks and the communities they serve. This transformative undertaking will raise over $100 million dollars that will serve as a financial catalyst for our long-term vision of creating healthy park infrastructure, expanding our public programs, and preparing our organization for the future. It is our hope that this campaign will obtain funds for financial resilience, raise voices for environmental advocacy, and gather hands to care for public spaces. Leveraging all three forms of impact will make the greatest difference in transforming the way people interact with our parks.

Our two signature capital projects, West Fairmount Park and FDR Park, are uniquely tied to Philadelphia’s history of innovation, featured as the City’s showpieces for the 1876 Centennial and 1926 Sesquicentennial celebrations, respectively. Reimagining the potential of these parks that draws on this innovative spirit is key to telling the Philadelphia story. Most importantly, this campaign ensures that Fairmount Park Conservancy will continue our legacy of delivering meaningful programs and championing our parks for generations to come.

Your support of the Fair Play Campaign will help restore one of our region’s greatest public health and environmental assets and directly benefit communities across our city.

We invite you to join us in creating a new era for Philadelphia’s parks.
